Nampula City (Nampula Province), Mozambique | Shifters de KNB | 2025
Olá!
We are Shifters de KNB, a youth movement focused on breaking the silence around sexual and reproductive health in Nampula City. In 2025, we launched our campaign concentrating on improving sexual and reproductive health awareness to help reduce vulnerabilities that lead to early marriage.

The Right-Sized Problem
Lack of sexual and reproductive health awareness increases vulnerability to early marriage in Nampula City. Young people don't have access to accurate information about their bodies, their rights, or how to protect themselves from early pregnancies that lead to forced marriages. This knowledge gap leaves adolescents exposed to pressures and practices that steal their choices and futures.
What We Did
We focused on direct education and community dialogue, making sexual health information accessible and breaking cultural taboos around these critical topics.
Offline Impact
Sexual and Reproductive Health Workshops Conducted comprehensive sessions teaching adolescents about their bodies, their rights, and how to make informed choices about their health and futures.
School Awareness Sessions Reached students across Nampula City with clear information about preventing early pregnancies and understanding the connection between health knowledge and life opportunities.
Radio Debates Created public forums discussing sexual health, early marriage consequences, and reporting mechanisms, building collective commitment to prevention.
Community Engagement Worked with families and leaders to normalize conversations about sexual health, challenging taboos that keep young people in the dark.
Online & Media Impact
Live Digital Debates Hosted interactive online discussions about sexual health and early marriages, promoting dialogue and strengthening collective commitment through social media engagement.
Educational Content Created and disseminated videos and digital materials making sexual and reproductive health information accessible to wider audiences across Nampula.
Campaign Impact
Our work proves that knowledge is protection. When young people understand their bodies and their rights, they gain the power to say no to pressures that would derail their futures. By breaking the silence around sexual health, we're not just preventing early marriages—we're building a generation that makes informed choices.
