Toma Impulso 2.0

Cochabamba, Bolivia | Toma Impulso 2.0 - GYBN (Global Youth Biodiversity Network), JCI Tunari, and Partners Campus San Simón | 2025

¡Hola!

We are GYBN (Global Youth Biodiversity Network), JCI Tunari, and Partners Campus San Simón—a coalition of youth-led organisations dedicated to sustainable development and environmental advocacy. Building on our 2024 campaign success, we returned in 2025 with Toma Impulso 2.0, scaling our impact to transform how businesses operate. Our mission? To prove that green entrepreneurship isn't just possible, it's profitable, necessary, and the future of Cochabamba's economy.

The Right-Sized Problem

In Bolivia, many businesses and entrepreneurs lack awareness and access to information on how to transition to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Without proper guidance, harmful business habits continue, contributing to environmental degradation and pollution. We needed to move beyond awareness to create systemic change by equipping entrepreneurs with tools, connecting them with consumers, and influencing policy to make sustainability the standard, not the exception.

What We Did

Through policy advocacy, hands-on training, public forums, and innovative digital tools, we engaged thousands of people across Cochabamba to transform how businesses think about sustainability.

Offline Impact

  • Policy Advocacy Leadership: Led 10 working sessions to amend Departmental Law 995 "Made in Cochabamba Seal," securing three formal support statements and incorporating six sustainability criteria: eco-friendly materials, responsible production, circular economy principles, and health preservation.

  • EcoImpulso Training Guide: Published a seven-unit greening guide helping businesses minimize waste, pollution, and biodiversity loss while boosting environmental and economic impact.

  • Entrepreneur Training Workshops: Trained 30 entrepreneurs in circular economy practices, then provided personalised follow-up to 15 enterprises through evaluation matrices and individual coaching.

  • Impulso Verde Forum & Fair: Brought together 350 in-person and 100+ virtual participants for three expert panels on sustainable enterprise challenges, green education, and financing. Broadcast live for nearly 4 hours with 2,400+ views.

  • Yo Impulso BICI-tando Cycling Route: Guided 62 cyclists through downtown Cochabamba on Pedestrian Day, connecting them with 15 eco-friendly businesses along the route.

  • University Activation Points: Established campaign presence at five+ universities, engaging students directly about green entrepreneurship opportunities.

Online & Media Impact

  • Digital Campaign: Reached 301,124 people across Facebook (112,029), Instagram (189,095), and TikTok (7,664), generating 615,349 total views and 9,255 interactions through 198+ posts showcasing sustainable practices, entrepreneur stories, and campaign activities.

  • EcoImpulso Podcast: Produced and broadcast seven episodes on Spotify and UCB Community Radio, featuring in-depth conversations with entrepreneurs about their sustainability journeys.

  • Yo Impulso App: Launched an interactive mobile app mapping 30 responsible enterprises across Cochabamba, connecting conscious consumers with sustainable businesses through participatory, ecological experiences.

  • Traditional Media Coverage: Conducted 18 interviews across radio, television, and digital newspapers, achieving 22,997,542 total reach. Featured comprehensive coverage in OH magazine (Los Tiempos newspaper) reaching 80,000+ readers.

  • Mall Advertising: Broadcast campaign video on Hupermall and SKY BOX screens for 15+ days with 96 daily passes, maximizing visibility in high-traffic commercial areas.

Campaign Impact

  • 6+ million people reached through combined in-person events, mass media, and social networks

  • 15 enterprises completed personalized sustainability transformation—all implemented at least one new eco-friendly practice

  • 30 entrepreneurs trained in circular economy principles and green business practices

  • 3 policy advocacy statements secured from business leaders and civil society organizations

  • Policy amendment proposals submitted to Cochabamba Departmental Government incorporating sustainability criteria into the Made in Cochabamba Seal

  • Bill drafted for "Promotion of Employability and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Cochabamba" with green production commitments

One of our greatest successes was witnessing tangible business transformation. At the beginning of the process, none of the 15 participating enterprises had formal environmental practices in place. By the end, all had implemented sustainability-oriented actions including efficient resource use, waste reduction, material reuse, and improved waste management. One enterprise achieved consolidated environmental practices, demonstrating high commitment and serving as a reference model for others.

The Impulso Verde Forum created unprecedented dialogue between private companies, academia, public institutions, and young entrepreneurs—generating collaborative proposals that promote sustainable, resilient, and socially responsible production models adapted to local realities.

What's Next?

We're committed to expanding our green entrepreneurship movement by:

  • Supporting more businesses in adopting sustainable practices through continued EcoImpulso training

  • Strengthening our eco-entrepreneur network across Bolivia

  • Pushing for approval of our policy proposals to institutionalize green criteria in departmental business support programs

  • Scaling the Yo Impulso app to include more enterprises and expand to other Bolivian cities
